First competitive win of the season
| 13 April 2009
Well, it wasn't quite the weekend we hoped for, but the signs are definately promising. After the home defeat to sheffield, the last place we need to go was Edinburgh, they are really tough round their home track and we were totally out performed. Our gating let us down and i think it's best just to draw a line under that one and try to improve for next time.
Even after the pasting at Edinburgh, all the lads believed we could get a result at Glasgow. We went there with the intention of winning and things were going well, right until the last few heats. I thought we fall apart a bit at the end, but their top 2 are hard to beat round there. The score was probably a bit flattering to them, but none the less, we could have and should have kept it coser.
Then yesterday we got the much needed win. It was a great night, all the lads are working for each other, the track was fantastic, there was muck on the bends and more passing than we've seen all season. I had a nasty crash, my own fault really, got out of shape in the first bend and couldn't save it. I hit the fence pretty hard, then jusl closed my eyes and went for the ride. Sadly the bike is wrecked so its a busy few days before sheffield, but luckily i walked away with just sore toe( Ithink the nail is coming off). It hurts like hell. I think the crash probably made the meeting closer than it should have been, but a win was just what we needed.
Team spirit is great and once we get on a roll, i think we can start challenging for points everywhere we go!
Cheers
Jay
