Thoughts on the weekend...
| 19 April 2009
Thursday at Sheffield was a washout. Unfortunately the track was slick and when the rain started, it just sat on the surface and it was really slippy and slimey. The referee Chris Gay made the right decision and i'm pleased about that. He could of made us start the meeting, but with the constant drizzle, the racing would have been poor and visibility even worse, so now we can go back on a better day and a better track.
Saturday, i was riding in David Meldrum's Testamonial. It was avery good meeting and i'm pleased he had a good turnout. The racing was good and i had a good night. Some of the action was heart in mouth stuff for me, mainly because i lent Malcolm "the crasher" Hogg my bike and after coming through the first race in unscathed things looked promising after his long absence from the sport! Then in his doomed 2nd outing, he was unable to avoid 2 fallen riders and took a spectacular tumble, but luckily was able to walk away with only a few cuts and bruises. Slight damage to the bike meant he was unable to take his place in the re-run, but i think anyone who was at the meeting will agree, it would have been a certain win for him!!
Then yesterday's meeting was a poor result. We had to work hard with Boxhall injured and managed to get into a 4 point lead. Then we threw it away after the interval. I will be making changes this week as i need to start getting out of the start and making lifer easier for myself. When the track went slick, i struggled and thats something i will be fixing! I am fed up with losing at home, but we all know what needs doing and will be working hard this week to get it fixed! We will have to use the prem trophy to get ourselves set-up for the league.
Cheers
