Changes over the last 2 weeks
| 08 July 2009
It’s been a while since I have posted on here and there has been a lot going on over the last few weeks.
We’ve had a tough few weeks with no home meetings and some hard away ones. The Somerset and Rye House weekend seemed to go ok for me. I have never scored 7 points at Rye, so I was really pleased with that, it’s such a tough place to go, so although it would have been nice for us to score a few ore as a team, the result was always going to be the same.
Then we had Birmingham away, which I was disappointed not to come away with a point. I didn’t have a great night, but I had a new engine in for that one and it took me a few races to get dialled in. I seem to be having a spate of bike problems at the moment since that new engine only lasted for the Redcar meeting last Thursday, so hopefully that’s not anything too serious.
Then at Kings Lynn last night, things started great with a really good win for me. It’s a hard place to get points, so to come through from the back was great. Then it all seemed to go downhill. I was running out of power and in the last one the engine gave up completely. Hopefully all these problems will be sorted for Saturday, where I think we have a really good chance of taking all the points on offer. It’s not going to be easy at Berwick or in the home leg, but with the new look team; I’m expecting us to climb up the league fast.
As for the team, Rene has come in for Boxhall, who unfortunately was injured for just a bit too long and the promotion felt they couldn’t wait any longer, but I’m pleased to see he’s fixed up at Poole. Rene has shown he’s capable of doing a great job for us. Once he’s dialled in over here and seen some more of the tracks, I think he will be a big scorer for us.
Then the move to bring Mark Lemon in has really boosted our team. It was hard on Craig, who was doing a good job for us and really starting to get his confidence back, but it was the best move for Newcastle and I really believe that we will finish close to the top of the league.
