Jason gutted at local derby defeat
| 29 March 2009
Jason, despite scoring 8 from 4 rides, was gutted to have lost both legs of the Challenge against local rivals Redcar.
Without Trent (Leverington) who was sadly injured last night at Workington, it was never going to be easy to cover his rides with only Derek (Snedden) and the two reserves (Casper and Craig) able to take them. Infact only 2 points were won from Trent's 4 rides arguably it was this that lost us the meeting.
It was easy for any onlooker to see that once a rider was out in front there was precious little hope of any one managing to overtake. Many of the Redcar side are reknowned for their quickness out of the gate and for the Newcastle boys who like to overtake there was no where to do it!!
Jason's first ride was a superb blast from the gate in the second quickest time of the night (65.4) but suffered at the hands of the Redcar's strong 3 & 4 pairing in heat 7. Another fine gate in heat 11 left Havvy (Gary Havelock) wondering if he had switched his fuel on but in heat 13 it was turn of team mate Steve Boxall to fly out the gate leaving Jason to fend off the advances of Ty Proctor to secure a useful third.
A night many Newcastle fans may wish to forget but to be sure the Redcar fans will keep reminding us of it!!!!
