Diamonds win Tyne Tweed Trophy
| 21 March 2010
Jason lead Newcastle to victory in the Tyne Tweed Trophy over local rival Berwick Bandits after securing a draw on the night to win by four points on aggregate.
Jay's night started off well with a fine win with Rene Bach joining him for a 5-1 in Heat 3.
Heat 5 saw Jason finish in third place on a 4-2 over Adrian Rymel and Jad Mudgway.
Disaster struck in Heat 9 when Rene Bach fell whilst leading with Jason also in a good position, in the rerun Michal Makovsky inevitably won to put the Bandits two points ahead at 26-28.
Heat 12 was a frustrating one for Jay, he was last from the tapes and was buzzing around the rear wheels of Branney and Clews for the entire four laps but never managed to get past.
Fortunately Newcastle managed two 4-2s in Heats 13 and 15 to get a draw on the night and a trophy win on aggregate.
